Colleen Robledo, M.L.I.S.

I am a web developer and librarian with strong technical, research, reference, and instructional expertise. My research subject specializations include: public records, demographics, statistics, genealogy, history, and journalism. My web specializations include: database/interface development and information architecture. My M.L.I.S. and professional background enable me to work and collaborate effectively with everyone from I.T. professionals to non-technical staff and customers.

    • Web Developer: Database administrator and Grails developer. Managed database operations for our site launch. Recently led a comprehensive MySQL database redesign and migration as part of our site conversion from Java to Grails. Currently migrating and expanding our Grails-based web site administration tool, designing the database schema and application work flow for new social networking features and a new e-commerce platform, and leading the data migration for the e-commerce redesign.
  • Freedom Communications, Inc. (April 2005 – August 2007)
    • Newsroom Systems Specialist (November 2006 – August 2007): Maintained the newsroom editorial system and provided systems support and instruction to newsroom staff of The Orange County Register (OCR) and all affiliated publications and web sites. Served as I.T. liaison. Developed newsroom technology tools, including: the intranet, the wiki, internal blogging software, and research databases. Contributed content to emerging web products.
    • Research Librarian (April 2005 – November 2006): Conducted background and investigative research for OCR and affiliated products. Trained staff and interns on use of the news archive, research databases, and other web-based technologies.
